you would be alot easier just changing the engine to a 1600 vtec mate , as you can pick those engines up for 300notes for everything

there we go now u have what you need would rather put a d16v1 in it as theres no guarantee on the whole new head built for you working properly , if you buy the d16 you have the bulletproof honda reliability and stick the d17 injectors and ecu on it and ul b getin some more ponies , theres 3 d16v1 enghines and gearboxs on :D for 265pound

the d16v1 head is no different to the d14z6 except the solonoid on the back and the oil way for it. you could put a vtec solonoid as all the holes are there to bolt on on except the oil way isnt there.the head dosnt do anything for performance. im guessing u sport owners get your extra 18bhp from the extra 200cc you have and not vtec-e

vtec II is mainly for economy, but does help performance slightly in the higher rev ranges :P

I would say, if it was safe the let the car rev higher then Honda would probably do that.

It probably IS safe but the higher you rev, the more wear you will cause to all the components in the engine.
