type r back box . . .

will a Type R back box bolt straight onto an ep1?

Yes just needs welding on and you will need hangers, mines slightly wonky because a hanger fell off and havnt been able to find one that will fit!

Nope, it won't.
I have an EP2 SE which as far as im aware the EP1 and 2 have the same exhaust system, if not they must have the same bore size.
EP1&2 have a 2" bore piping and the EP3 has a 2 1/2" bore so as the pipes are larger, so are the flange joints so it won't go straight on.
I have a Type R box on my SE and my mechanic charged me £35 to do it. I looked under my car and I cant even tell what he's done to it but he managed it.

Iv had it done and watched it being done on the ep1

simple weld the box to the pipe and fit hangers......
